The New Man in our Lives

As you can see from the new pictures...we got a NEW man in our lives...IVAN.  He is a one year old PUGGLE.  Thats a Pug/Beagle cross.  He is the cutest thing!  And such a mild mannered "cool" guy.  Manda has been wanting a "big" dog for some time now.  The one we have, Alex, is just not fun and playful, and being small, you kinda have to be careful when playing with him.  Besides, he is pretty much my dog, although we say he is hers.  So I gave in.  I didn't really want a big dog, knowing the trouble and work thats involved with dogs bigger than Alex.  But I knew that she deserved the opportunity to have the companionship of a dog.  So when we came across this one, it was like an answer to my prayers.  He is already house trained.  He gets along with other dogs, and cats and kids.  He is still playful like a pup.  And best of all...HE ADORES AMANDA and vice versa!!!   Things just continue to get better in "terriland"!!!Open-mouthed

2008-NOT SO GREAT, 2009-GONNA BE JUST FINE!!!

Well, haven't been here in ages, so I will apologize to all.  And I can't promise that it won't be ages before I return again.  But I do want each and everyone of you to know that I think of you each and every day.  And I miss you so much....its just hard to sit and take the time to write and read like I want to.   I don't know how I ever found the time to keep in touch so much before.  So, this will be a brief overview of whats happened and whats going on now.....

After trying and trying, Rog and are nothing more than "friends".  And i use the term loosly on my behalf.  Its very difficult to be his friend now, but I know he doesn't have to many and he needs me.  No other onions in the onion patch.  I think my onion picking days are over until after Manda gets grown and out of the house on her own.  Now thats not to say that if God sees fit to drop the perfect man on my doorstep I'm gonna send his away....
My mom is doing pretty well, but everyday it gets harder and harder to get her to get out of the house and try to have a life.  She now has a lady that comes to her home and helps with the housework and shopping and stuff.  That helps me some.  Its still worrisome, though.  I guess its just hard to see your mom and getting old and sickly.  I seem to be in some sort of denial mode there.
Now for the big one.....Manda.  OMG that child has changed so much over the past year!!  She has become the most beautiful young lady.  She will soon be 12, and I have people stop me on the street to ask how old she is.  She appears to be much older, and yet she still has that young child innocence about her.  At the beginning of the year, we enrolled her in Taekwondo.  She is amazing at it.  And she loves it!!  It is making such a difference in her learning and abilites at school.  She is more respectful at home, already.  I LOVE TAEKWONDO!!  Next saturday, she will be testing for her Orange Belt.  She is soo excited.   Also, in June, she will be going with some of the other kids and teachers from school to Washington DC.  We have had to raise and save the money on our own.  Its been a struggle, but we are almost to our goal.  This is going to be such an amazing trip for her.
My turn.....I am still massaging.  This year, I decided not to return to the tax office.  I am working parttime for a man that owns a trucking company.  He has a great business, but its not organized and he desperately needs someone to get him organized.  I can do that...if he would let me.  lol...but being a "man" its hard for him to let go and let me do what I need to do.  But slowly its gotting there.  I am also selling Avon and doing some tax returns on the side.  Most days, I start at 6 am and end finally about 8 pm.  But best of all.......I AM HAPPY!!  And Manda is HAPPY!!  So life is good.

PRESS RELEASE

I regret to inform you that as of 9:07cst., October 18, 2008, Peaches passed away from complications of what appears to be carrot poisioning.  While an autopsy will be preformed to determine the exact cause of death, the authorites are saying that the carrots seem to have been the cause.   Carrot poisioning is thought to be a long term, slow moving form of strangulation.   It can be incurred from too many carrots being dangled in front of the victim by well meaning, lonely men.  No charges will be filed in this case if it does turn out to be carrot poisioning.  The men who dangle these carrots are often unaware of the dangers of doing so.  They use them to pacify said victims, and stall making actual long term commitments.  While these commitments would be beneficial to the long term health of said men, they find that they are comfortable with their current situations.  But to reduce the lonliness of their circumstances and to keep the the victim coming back and not moving on to other places, they dangle the carrots.  While dangling carrots can be deadly to some, they can also cause reactions for the dangler.  He can potentially cause serious feelings of guilt.  These feelings manifest themselves with varying degrees.  The worst degree will cause huge regret for the rest of his life.  But most of these men that dangle carrots already have many regrets clouding their views. So authorities don't usually file charges in the case of carrot poisionings, because in the long run, these men usually die of a broken heart.   More details to come as the facts become available.

Summer in Odessa

Well here it is already August 1, or on the other hand...only August 1.  Its been a long summer around here.  For some reason, Manda didn't want to do anything but be joined to me at the hip all summer long.  We got her a membership to the "Y" so she could swim, but she didn't want to go.  I offered to take her to her dad's but no, she just wanted to stay with me.  And what did we do??  Watched TV and played video games on the computer, and she napped alot while i massaged.  Exciting summer.

Not much going on with Sunshine either.  He came Memorial Day weekend and it wasn't a very good visit.  Left me wondering why I just sit and wait.  He came for his birthday in late July.  It was a much better trip, even though i really dreaded it before he came.  It actually turned out to be a very good trip.  I finally was reminded why I fell in love with the man.  But since he has returned home, I am back to wondering what my life has become.  I actually found myself registering on another dating site, just to kinda look around and see what is out there.  As it has turned out, I have met a few very interesting people.  No one that I would call it quits with onionboy yet, but its nice to see that there is life out there in the World.  I hate to feel like this.  But I guess its self preservation.  Not putting all my eggs in one basket.  The problem being that one too many times he has told me that "he is always there for me".  Before, I thought ohhhhh....thats so sweet!  Now what i hear is, 'I am always gonna be in Houston for you.  As long as you are on the other end of the computer and the phone, i am happy and comfortable.'  Now I could be wrong.  But nothing ever changes.  All the time he complains about his job, his life, the city, everything.  Tells me how happy he is when he is here, how he wants and needs me in his life.  Agrees that we would have a great life together.  And yet, here I sit.  More lonely than if i was alone.

So, now you all can see why I have not bothered to write any new blogs.  Some things just never change. I have missed everyone so much, but I am tired of hearing, so I know you all must be too.  I doubt anyone will even read this.  I have been gone way too long and haven't visited anyone in ages.  But I do love you all, and have thought of you all constantly!

love to all!!

A MODERN PARABLE . .

A Japanese company ( Toyota ) and an American company (Ford) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River .  Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat.  A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents, and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder.  It was called the 'Rowing Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners, and free pens for the rower.  There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes, and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the America n management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment.  The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was out-sourced to India .

Sadly, The End.

Here's something else to think about:

Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US , claiming they can't make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US .  The last quarter's results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads.

IF THIS WEREN'T TRUE, IT MIGHT BE FUNNY.
